Black Star!

My favorite group will forever be Black Star. It's plain and simple. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be the man I am today. No homo. I'd probably be stuck listening to...Lil' Wayne, Gucci Mayne, etc. Fuck, that sounds horrible. But anyways, their album Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star is in my estimation the essential album that every hip-hop fan needs.

That being said, I'm assuming you all have it. Now while we wait for Black Star 2 (which looks like it's becoming the underground Detox joke), I have their B-Sides and Rarities album. This shit could be an album all by itself, real talk.

Buff1 - Pure (2007)

I was pleasantly surprised with this album. I remembered his material from the Athletic Mic League. I first heard him off of the Masters of the Universe release by Binary Star. But this solo album was a lot better than I expected luckily. You can tell he doesn't force his lyrics, they just flow. He's really slept on, no one really talks much about him. Change that for me (well him), why don't you?

A song i've been playing way too often lately....

Off of Kid Cudi's new album, I've been playing this track a lot lately, if you can't tell from my Last.fm charts haha. When his hit "Day N' Nite" came out i really liked the track. Then it got played way too much on the radio and I convinced myself I hated Kid Cudi. That was a mistake. He may not be a raw rapper, but he's a dope musician. This track is more depressed than I like, but dope nonetheless.
